Here is a brief rundown of the show:
This unique series from Sony Pictures Television which was a network surprise hit from last summer, stars Brooke Elliott (Broadway’s “Taboo”) as a shallow wannabe model who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-size and recently deceased attorney, Jane. Comedian Margaret Cho (TV’s “All American Girl”) also stars in the series which features guest appearances by Rosie O’Donnell (The Rosie O’Donnell Show), Paula Abdul (TV’s “American Idol”), Tim Gunn (TV’s “Project Runway”), Liza Minnelli (Cabaret, Arthur), Sharon Lawrence (TV’s “Monk”), Kathy Najimy (TV’s “King of the Hill”), Delta Burke (TV’s “Designing Women”) and Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Once I saw the first episode I didn't want to stop watching! I think I watched 3 or 4 shows in a row the very first time I sat down with it :). I love the concept of the show- sticking a skinny model in a "fat" girl's body is brilliant... especially for those of us who are fat girls. It's like some sort of sweet cosmic justice or something (*insert evil cackle here*).
Drop Dead Diva is filled with the whole range of emotions and I love that. I laughed a lot and I totally teared up a few times too. I was completely drawn into the story right from the start. I am genuinely enjoying "getting to know" the characters and Margaret Cho's character is hysterical.
I love watching TV shows on DVD for many reasons- no commercials, you can start and stop at will, and they usually have great extras! The extras for Drop Dead Diva are fabulous. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the show.
You can watch Drop Dead Diva Sundays at 9/8 central on Lifetime.
