Today was the last day of school before our March break (or Spring break as some call it). I've been listening to everyone's travel plans and feeling a bit jealous. I would so love to be going somewhere exotic!
I haven't done a lot of traveling in my life... I did one major trip when I was a teenager though. I went to Kathmandu, Nepal on a Teen Missions Int'l work-missions trip. We went and built a road and such at an orphanage there. I was there for 6 weeks and it was amazing. I can't even begin to describe all the incredible things I saw while I was there. That trip started with 2 weeks in the wilds of Florida for our training. We took a bus from Florida to New York City. From there we had a day layover in Paris, France where we got to take a bus tour of the city and we saw the L'Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower at sunrise. From there we flew to Karachi, Pakistan where we spent a bizarre night in a weird hotel and got frisked at the airport and the airport guards stole all our batteries, film, toothpaste and deodorant. After our 6 weeks in Kathmandu we spent a week in Bern, Switzerland. We took a train from Switzerland, through Germany, to Amsterdam where we spent a glorious 12 hours exploring that amazing city.
Sadly I really haven't been anywhere since. I have traveled some in my beautiful homeland, Canada. And I love it. But I still would love to see so much more of our incredible world.
I do realize that traveling isn't always as romantic as it sounds... nightmares with travel insurance, lost luggage, trying to keep kids occupied for hours on the plane, and of course the sheer cost of it all. But still, I would dearly love to be somewhere exotic right now... Tahiti sounds nice. I have had enough of our dismal gray weather and dirty snow crusted ground. Icky.
So what are you all doing with your spring break? Anyone have any glorious travel plans? Share so I can live vicariously through you :) .
