In honour of this fabulous occasion I thought I would share with you the chaos of my life this month (you are SO lucky!!!).
March 1st was my husband's first day in his brand new job (he's a pastor). We moved 14 hours away from our previous home in northeast Saskatchewan to our NEW home in northwestern Ontario. Apparently God did NOT hear my request for "south" and "warm places with no snow".
So we drove across the bald headed prairies towing our tent trailer in minus 45 degree weather, our three children sitting in our van wondering what on EARTH we are doing and WHY our cat is in the van with us and why people keep pointing and laughing. We are the coolest people in the world.
We arrived in our lovely, but frozen, new town and after a few bumps in the road moved in to our new home. It is lovely. And huge. And loud.
Our house gurgles.
I'm not kidding.
It is loud and sounds like the shower and the washing machine and the dishwasher are on ALL THE TIME.
I don't know why this is. But it makes me have to pee in the middle of the night and I don't appreciate that.
Sometimes if I close my eyes real tight and use my imagination I can pretend that we live near a waterfall of some kind. But really? It would be a very odd sounding waterfall.
I have also discovered that laminate floors LOOK very nice. But are impossible to keep clean. And there is a lot of them. I spend a lot of time sweeping. Which is apparently pointless because I have to redo it 8 minutes later anyway.
My two year old daughter Olivia enjoys helping me clean. I have noticed that this does not make my job easier. But it is still very cute to watch.
We spent the first 10 days without a washer & dryer and the laundry piled up VERY VERY high... I may never catch up. But I'm ok with that. In 5 or so years my oldest son will be 12 ish and he can learn to do the laundry and I'm sure he'll be thrilled to find the Spiderman jammies he lost in the great laundry pile of 2009.
In our new town we have this new-fangled thing called a "postman". Actually ours is a postwoman. But did you know that this wonderful person actually BRINGS your mail RIGHT TO YOUR DOOR!!! We no longer have to drive to the post office to get our mail! Bliss.
This is especially helpful since I get a multitude of packages weekly of things I am to review and/or giveaway on this here blog of mine.
I'm certain the postwoman will learn to hate me before long. But I still love her.
This week is spring break and has been especially exciting for us...
-Our cat got in a argument with a skunk and lost. He managed to stink up our entire house. It is unpleasant but we are all getting used to it I think... which may be unfortunate for those around us who wonder where that faint stench of skunk is emanating from but of course are far to polite to blame their pastor's wife for such hideous perfume.
- Aiden split his chin open in the changeroom at the pool... and freaked out so much at the hospital that the doctor decided to steri-strip it instead of stitching it "to save him the stress". I think maybe it might have been to save the doctor stress however. But I'm ok with that because it saved me stress too.
(yes, it IS all about me... haven't you heard?)
- speaking of doctors I have mentioned on this blog before that it is apparently impossible to find one in this town. I have a theory now though. I think they are all on vacation. In Tahiti. If I was a doctor making loads of money I would TOTALLY be in Tahiti right now.
- our basement started flooding but I yelled at it so severely that the water got scared and threw itself back under the wall from whence it came. Sort of.
So there you have it... my life this month in a nutshell... good thing I have a wonderful husband and great kids or I'd be completely nuts :)
