The Grand Tour

I thought I'd give you all a wee little tour of our new home... but please remember we've only been here for 10 days and I am DEFINITELY not fully unpacked or organized yet!

So here it goes...

when you walk in the front door the first thing you see is the kitchen...

Hopefully it won't always be that messy and disorganized :S

Next is the dining room...

and I must say I am absolutely THRILLED to have a dining room... even though our tiny little table really isn't big enough for our family... at least we have a place to put it!

From the living room there is a huge hallway to the bedroom hallway and it is next to the front door... we mostly use the side door though. This is a picture standing in the living room looking towards the kitchen...
I have my little desk area at the one end of the living room.
The lovely large front window looks out onto the front yard and the street we live on. We have some nice big trees in the yard but mostly it is just covered in snow. (oh please spring, won't you come soon?)

Here is the bedrooms hallway- as viewed from standing in our bedroom...
Our bedroom was used as a den but since we wanted three bedrooms upstairs we just made it into our room...
Olivia's room is pretty nondescript right now since I've done basically NOTHING with it...

The boys room is at the far end and it is huge and lovely blue- it is technically the master bedroom but it is perfect for the boys...

They have 3 huge closets and since Doug and I have zero closets we have to use two of theirs :) They don't seem to care though. We will be changing stuff around in their room too once I figure out what I want to do with it!

The basement is HUGE. There are two enormous rooms that are side-by-side. One will be used as the kid's playroom, rec room area...

The kids went to town on the unpacking but since we have no shelves in there yet they just threw everything on the ground. Perfect.

We have WAYYY too many toys.

Especially since the 3 boxes of stuff I MEANT to go to the Salvation Army actually got moved with us here and the kids found it and now I have to resort. Sheesh.

That room has a bathroom next to where I was standing to take the picture. And behind me was the laundry room which now houses my very pretty new machines. YAY! It also has a TON of storage.

The second huge room will be Doug's office...
It is chaos in this picture but eventually it will be nice and have space for him to work and have meetings and what not.

Next to that room is a storage area, a storage room/extra bedroom with several more closets and even a cold room.

Seriously this place is huge!

And now a riddle for you all...

What do these four pictures all have in common...

Give-up yet?

Well, they are the phenomenal decorating choices of some unknown person who decided ALL of those lovely patterns belonged in ONE room... our main bathroom...

Isn't it lovely?

One really has to wonder who walked into that room, looked at the walls and said- "HEY! I know what will look PERFECT with small orange and cream flowered walls... black and white flooring! And green floral curtains! And a beige shower curtain! It will look AWESOME!"

???

Ya. Someone is definitely a wee bit colour blind I'd say.

But other than the decorating disaster that is the bathroom I REALLY love this house! I'm a tad bit afraid to get our first heating bill... but I'm just not going to think about that right now. I'm going to concentrate on having no disgusting carpet in my living room and on having extra SPACE!

So there you have it folks, our new home.

It looks really nice Tara! Well, other than the bathroom. What are people thinking sometimes??? I'm glad you are getting everything settled.

very nice including the odd bathroom as it does not match but it is there--LOL I could send you my matching duvet cover to go with the curtains- LOL
soon it will be your own ideas but until then it makes a good bathroom -

Yay!!! I've been waiting for these pictures. So much space! (Must say I envy it just a tad). I'm glad you're settling in. And we? Have way, way too many toys too.

LOOKS GREAT! We also gave the boys the master in our house...dh "shares" their closet.

Wow I figured the shower curtain was what you had in your old house, so the fact that someone else decided it matched makes it even more crazy. You forgot the marbled counter top picture to add to the miss match. lol

yeah, it does look like a great place. glad you like it.

oh and yeah, i'm thinking the person that decorated that bathroom was a tad bit blind. maybe it was the same person that thought my master bath should have black wallpaper with giant purple flowers on the wall and ferns hanging from the ceiling... oh and carpet on the floor. oh and pink mini blinds. yep, i'm pretty sure the same person decorated our master bathrooms.

Oh Tara I just love your house! It's beautiful, cozy, spacious and 'home'. It's really a blessing to have such a sweet place. God was looking out for you. I hope that your years there will be filled with peace, health and much happiness! A special prayer for those electric bills also! Big hug!
Your new house is beautiful! I love the kitchen, and the floors - and it looks like it's going to be cozy and perfect once you get it all unpacked and set up. :)
