Scanalog review and GIVEAWAY!!! CLOSED

This giveaway is now CLOSED! Congratulations to Nessa for winning this great prize!

Scanalog Moving Logo

As most of you know we are moving next week... and in the process of packing I have discovered (again) what a pack rat I am!! I had stacks of magazines and bins full of my children's artwork and school papers and recipes galore. As much as I didn't want to pack all that stuff I also didn't want to just get rid of it! I wanted to keep the recipes in case I use them someday (hey, it could happen!). I knew there were good articles in those magazines... somewhere. And I am almost incapable of throwing away my children's lovely artwork... I'm a little on the sentimental side when it comes to those sorts of things!

And then, in the midst of my chaos, the Family Review Network introduced me to Scanalog! Scanalog is a magazine cataloguing system- all you have to do is scan your treasured magazine article, recipe, child's artwork into the Scanalog system on your computer and then you can tag it and organize it and voila! You can keep it forever, know where it is, be able to find it again, and all without the stacks and clutter and mess! Brilliant.
Scanalog Mousepad
I found scanalog super easy to use. The user guide explained everything to me and even this technology challenged girl was able to figure it out :)

The program comes with several very handy categories that you can put your stuff into. You are also able to add subcategories of your own which is super handy. For example under the crafts category I could add "Aiden's artwork" or under the My Spirit category I could add "inspirational bible verses". It is wonderfully user friendly.

Scanalog Home Decoration Photo

It is very easy to retrieve your stuff as well... no searching through random stacks of magazines for that one certain article you remember reading... somewhere! Now you just go into your scanalog and you can find it no problem. The scans are easy to read, you can look at them close up, you can print them out to share, the colours are bright, it is an all around wonderful program!

I am forever clipping recipes and decoration inspirations. These promptly go in a drawer...in no certain order. This would allow me to organize and declutter all in one step. I'd even gain a storage drawer back!

I would definitely use the Scanalog software. I have a son who has been drawing since birth. And, of course, I've saved everything so I can give it to him when he gets married (as if his new wife will want a stack of stuff sitting around.) This would let me scan all his drawings into one easily accessible place...Wonderful product.

I have a lot of magazines and ran out of storage space. It is time to cut out what I need and throw the rest out (so I can accumulate some more). It would also be nice to be able to have an index to the articles.

I would use the Scanalog to catalog all of my favorite room designs, recipes and knitting patterns. After 38 years of marriage, my husband has declared our home a fire hazard with my collection, and the kids..though they don't live here anymore, would like to just haul a dumpster to the house to get rid of my magazine clutter!

Oh my husband would be thrilled if I won this. He hates my piles of torn out articles. They start on the kitchen table and bathroom shelf, then they accumulate on the couch and dining room table. I have boxes and folders full of articles that I can never find when I need them. Not only will he be thrilled but so will I!

What wouldn't I use it for? I have folders of crap everywhere. This would shock my grandkids - if I actually got organized and got rid of some clutter.

Christina said...

Christina - xristya@rock.com - For years I've clipped items from magazines and kept playbills from plays and musical concerts and art openings until my "folders" are overflowing! This would be a great way to organize everything and still keep memories of events I'd attended and loved and tips about all sorts of life-things!

I'd be using this to organize job-search materials, as well as school-related items, misc documentation for esoteric electronic components, schematic diagrams, frequency charts -- Electrical Engineering stuff where a picture is only worth a thousand words if you can FIND IT easily.

Mollie G. said...

Given my current focus on preparing for April 15th, my mind leans toward being able to capture all those hundreds of "itemizable" receipts so I can toggle through on-screen pages instead of digging through shoeboxes. And the ability to assign keywords to any given image, and then SORT through the entire collection based on keywords, THAT is awesomely useful. And think about it -- to be able to respond to an audit with "here's my CDRom of all my records." IRS, here we come!

Kate said...
