Happy New Year to you!

Tomorrow is the big day.

No. I am NOT talking about the first day of 2009. Although that is also a big day.

Tomorrow is the big day we leave for our week long trip.

I am in that state of near-panic that I seem to gravitate toward the night before any trip I ever go on. Am I remembering to pack everything we need? Have I managed to accomplish everything I needed to do before we go? What on earth should I bring to entertain 3 children in the van for a zillion hours?

And so on.

But I am going to take a break from all that to wish you all a VERY Happy New Year! 2009 people! Remember when the year 2000 seemed so far away? Remember all the Y2K panic? HA! What a joke that was. Kind of makes me giggle just thinking about it!

Today I watched Mamma Mia on dvd while I packed piles of clothes for 5 family members. I love that movie. It is eerily similar to my life. (No. I am not kidding). That is the extent of my New Years partying tonight :) Not that I'll be going to bed early or anything... I suspect I will still be getting my life organized well into the New Year!

I THINK I will be able to blog while I am away... but on the off chance the internet is non-existent at our destination don't worry, I'll be back in a week :)

Wordless Wednesday

Olivia's First Haircut

We took the kids to my friend Christine to get their hair cut today. The boys have gone before but this was Olivia's first haircut. She started out ok...

But as soon as the first spritz of water hit her head she decided haircuts were NOT for her...
I am certain she thought we were torturing her. But I assure you we were not.
Not even looking in the fun big mirror could convince her hair cuts were fun...
But she sure looks cute!
Aiden was thrilled when Christine agreed to make his hair all spiky!
Owen was so tired that he barely made a sound the whole time...
Olivia recovered quickly and everyone looks adorable :)

Pneumonia strikes again

My sweet Olivia has pneumonia now, just like her two brothers. We went to the doctor today and now she is supposed to take medicine through a nebulizer (mask that goes over her nose and mouth and sort of steams medication so it is breathed in easier) four times per day.
Guess how much she loves the nebulizer?

NOT AT ALL!!!

She screams and screams and we literally have to hold her down to administer it.

It truly sucks. But I really hope it helps her get better fast. After all we are leaving for our trip in 3 sleeps. And of course the lovely nebulizer machine will be coming with us. Fun. (sarcasm dripping liberally)
The boys have started to get better (YAYAYAYAYAYYY!!!) and I think I am starting to feel a bit better too. So if we can just convince Olivia not to spit out her prescription and sit still for her mask we'll be good to go!

In other news my dear friends Becky and Cecile took me out for my birthday lunch today. I love them. They are truly wonderful friends. Yep.

Birthday cake a couple days late

As most of you know my birthday was on Christmas Day but with all the festivities we decided to postpone my birthday cake for another less-turkey-filled day! So today I got to enjoy my children singing happy birthday to me and the lovely angel food cake my mother got for me. Yum!

33 is sort of a non-descript age isn't it? I don't feel any different. But if I manage to live to be 99 (which is highly unlikely) then one third of my life is over. If I live to be 66 then half my life is over. Weird. But I don't mind getting older... well... most of the time anyway.

We are all still sick.

We are heading out on a trip next week and I am SOOO hoping we are all healthy by then. It will not be fun travelling with three sick kiddos.

Christmas Day Celebrations

Our Christmas was lovely, despite most of us being ill! The kids all looked adorable in their new jammies made by Grandma Ann (Doug's mom). I turned another year older. We had friends over. We talked to long-distance dearly-missed family and friends on the phone. We ate delicious food. It was great!

I didn't take many pictures because TECHNICALLY the camera belongs to my husband. So I pretty much have to steal it from him to take pictures. Which I do on a really regular basis. So much so that he has started to wish for another camera for ME so I stop stealing his! Of course if I wasn't married to him I would still be taking crappy pictures on my old point-and-shoot film camera so I'm not actually complaining!

Anyway, here are some of the fun pictures my husband took of our Christmas day...

All around it was a great day! Now if only we could get everyone healthy and feeling well again we'd be good to go :)

Christmas Eve

When we got home from Christmas Eve service at church the kids were so very tired and no one felt very well... so we all put on our jammies and got ready for Santa!

We left Santa cookies and milk and carrots for the reindeer and an empty water glass for no particular reason at all. Owen also left Santa the present he made him (SOOO SOOO cute!)

Owen was VERY insulted when Olivia swiped the reindeer's carrot and tried to eat it. Poor Aiden had a high fever and just wanted to go to bed...


Olivia didn't see a problem with stealing the carrot...

We almost got a good picture of the three of them....

Then Owen took the carrot away from Olivia which ticked her right off...


But she got over it relatively quickly because she was just too tired to care!
